Our Brown Square Trellis is a simple, versatile way to add height, structure, and character to your garden. Measuring approximately 6ft (1.83m) wide and available in a range of heights, it can support climbing plants, create decorative screens, and add extra height above existing fencing.

The traditional square design provides an attractive open structure that allows plenty of natural light and air through, making it ideal when you want to define or screen an area without creating the solid appearance of a conventional fence panel.

Made from sturdy 38mm x 16mm timber laths, our Brown Square Trellis features a timber capping rail along the top for a neat, attractive finish. Similar traditional square trellis products use this style of substantial timber batten to create a practical and robust garden trellis.

Pressure Treated Brown Timber

Our Brown Square Trellis is manufactured from timber that has been pressure treated brown.

Pressure treatment forces preservative into the timber to provide additional protection against fungal decay and wood-boring insects, helping to extend its service life when used outdoors.

The brown treatment also gives the trellis an attractive traditional timber appearance that works particularly well alongside brown fencing, timber posts and other garden landscaping products.

As timber is a natural material, variations in grain, knots and colour are to be expected. The brown treatment can also vary slightly between individual pieces of timber and will gradually weather with exposure to sunlight and the elements.

Ideal for Climbing Plants

The open square design makes Brown Square Trellis an excellent support for climbing and trailing plants.

Clematis, honeysuckle, climbing roses, jasmine and many other garden plants can be trained through the openings as they grow, providing them with a framework to climb while gradually creating an attractive living feature.

Square trellis is widely used for this purpose because its open construction provides support for plants without unnecessarily restricting light and airflow.

Install the trellis against a suitable wall or fence to transform a plain area into a backdrop for planting, or incorporate it into beds and borders to add height and structure to your garden.

Add Height Above Existing Fencing

One of the most popular uses for Brown Square Trellis is as a decorative topper above an existing fence.

Adding trellis can increase the overall height of a boundary while retaining a much more open appearance than extending it with solid fencing. The square openings allow light through and provide an attractive transition between the fence and surrounding garden.

Lower-height trellis panels are particularly suited to this application, with comparable 6ft-wide square trellis commonly sold specifically for use as fence toppers.

It can also provide a useful framework for climbing plants along the top of a boundary, allowing planting to create additional natural screening over time.

Create Attractive Garden Screens

Our Brown Square Trellis doesn’t have to be attached to an existing fence. It can also be incorporated into the garden to create decorative screens and divide different areas of your outdoor space.

Use it to provide a backdrop around seating areas, separate planting areas, disguise less attractive parts of the garden or introduce additional structure to larger outdoor spaces.

The open square pattern provides a degree of screening while maintaining visibility, airflow and natural light, making it a useful alternative where a solid panel would feel too enclosed.

Available in a Choice of Heights

Our 6ft wide Brown Square Trellis is available in a range of heights, allowing you to choose the right panel for your project.

Whether you need a low trellis to finish the top of an existing fence or a larger panel for climbing plants and garden screening, the different heights can be combined to create a consistent appearance throughout your garden.
