Why Use Kiln Dried Firewood Kindling?

A good fire needs heat and airflow before larger logs can burn effectively. Kiln dried Firewood Kindling consists of smaller pieces of dry timber that ignite much more readily than full-sized logs.

Once lit, the kindling quickly creates a strong flame and increases the temperature of the fire. Your larger kiln dried logs can then be added gradually once the fire is well established.

Using dry kindling also avoids introducing unnecessary moisture into the fire, helping you achieve a cleaner and more efficient burn from the start.

How to Use Firewood Kindling

Place your firelighter in the centre of the fire and loosely arrange several pieces of Firewood Kindling around it, leaving enough space between the pieces for air to circulate.

Light the firelighter and allow the kindling to catch. Once you have a strong, established flame, gradually add your larger logs, taking care not to overload or smother the fire.

Always follow the operating instructions supplied with your stove or appliance.

Wood-Burning Safety

For a cleaner and more efficient fire, always use properly dried wood. Burning wet timber can produce excessive smoke and contribute to deposits building up within your stove, flue or chimney.

Your chimney or flue should be inspected and swept regularly. HETAS recommends having chimneys swept at least twice a year when burning wood, including before the main heating season.

Regular maintenance, together with good-quality dry Firewood Kindling and kiln dried logs, will help keep your fire burning safely and efficiently.
