Grangewood Supports Local Community

Our new Hixon branch was recently featured in the local Post & Times newspaper, after a donation from the company helped the St. Peter’s Primary School complete their quest for an outdoor classroom.

Pupils Lesson In The Open Air

New outdoor classroom furniture has been delivered to a village school near Uttoxeter so pupils can have their lessons outside.  The children of St. Peters Primary School at Hixon will be using the tables and chairs for lessons in the open air – as long as summer showers don’t dampen their activities.

As keen environmentalists, the school works hard trying to implement the three R’s – Reducing, Reusing and Recycling – and over the last few years has been saving the money from the recycling of aluminium cans to buy new furniture for the outdoor classroom.

But recent prices for scrap aluminium have fallen and it was going to take much longer to save enough money to purchase seating for a whole class. A school spokesman said, “With help from the PTA and the generosity from local company Grangewood Fencing Supplies of Hixon, they can now take advantage of the better weather and enjoy lessons out in the open air.”
